Mysuru: The State Government’s decision to cancel the celebration of Tipu Sultan Jayanti has started to evoke sharp criticism.
Former minister and Congress MLA Tanveer Sait has opposed the decision of the government. Sait represents minority dominated Narasimharaja Assembly constituency in the city.
In his tweet, Sait has said ‘It was just an honour the State Government celebrated Tipu Jayanti for last four years. We as Indians have high respect for the first freedom fighter who fought against the British ( Read Indian freedom history).
We as true Indians and patriotism to India have been celebrating Tipu Jayanti for years now, without any support of any government. This act of the government was expected’.
