Bengaluru: Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev’s Isha Foundation has decided to serve a legal notice to Ramesh Babu, Ex-MLC – Congress, Karnataka, For Defamatory Statements Against Sadhguru And Isha
We are appalled by an uncalled-for personal attack by Ramesh former MLC Ramesh Babu a Congress leader misinforming people with sheer lies against Sadhguru.
We are appalled by an uncalled-for personal attack by Ramesh former MLC Ramesh Babu a Congress leader misinforming people with sheer lies against Sadhguru.

The vicious attack by him doesn’t befit his education or position as a representative of a national party like Congress, which has been supportive of revolutionary environmental initiatives like Rally For Rivers, Cauvery Calling and Save Soil by Sadhguru.
Here’s our point-by-point rebuttal to unwarranted allegations made by Ramesh Babu:
1. The government of Karnataka has not given Rs 100 crore to Sadhguru or to Isha or Save Soil, as presented by Ramesh Babu.

Here’s our point-by-point rebuttal to unwarranted allegations made by Ramesh Babu:
1. The government of Karnataka has not given Rs 100 crore to Sadhguru or to Isha or Save Soil, as presented by Ramesh Babu.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has clearly elucidated that Rs 100 Crore budget is allocated towards state ecological activities with emphasis on soil conservation. We do not understand the intention behind twisting this statement and misinforming people.
We would like to clarify that neither Isha Foundation nor Sadhguru have ever received any funds from the present government or the previous governments of Karnataka. Isha Foundation is not involved in any financial transactions directly or indirectly by the government of Karnataka.

Sadhguru’s role through the global Save Soil movement is to inspire governments to bring back 3-6% organic content in soil and revive the depleting quality of soil.
We had clarified the same on our official Twitter handle as well on October 15:

2. The government of Karnataka has not given 250 acres of land in Chikkaballapur for the new Isha Yoga Center, as stated by Ramesh Babu.
We would like to clarify that the land for the new Isha Yoga Center has been directly bought by Isha from the owners of the land in Chikkaballapur through voluntary contributions by donors and volunteers. Isha Foundation has not received any land from the government of Karnataka.
The unverified statements made by Ramesh Babu are deeply hurtful and belittles the tireless work put in by thousands of volunteers and donors who are contributing selflessly towards making a vibrant spiritual space for generations to benefit from.
3. With regards to the High Court case mentioned by Ramesh Babu, it is extremely concerning that before holding a press conference or loosely talking about Cauvery Calling, no background check was done by him.
The PIL on Cauvery Calling that Mr Babu is referring to was DISMISSED and termed as “frivolous” by the Hon’ble High Court last year. The Court has in fact highly appreciated the noble work done by Isha Outreach towards agroforestry and afforestation to help revive the dying river. The Court had observed that the project Cauvery Calling is not the government’s project, and planting of sapling is not being done either on the government land or on public land.

The court had also noticed that the project is being implemented on the Cauvery river basin by encouraging farmers to plant saplings only on their private lands, and that the Karnataka government is not financing the project.
Cauvery Calling is the biggest farmer-driven ecological movement and the core beneficiaries are the farmers. Isha is not the beneficiary of any fund released by the government. The incentives for planting trees go directly to the farmers. Isha’s role is to inspire farmers towards tree-based agriculture, provide technical training and assistance in sapling distribution.
Since Mr Ramesh Babu has misinformed the public without checking any facts or even trying to find out the truth, it clearly speaks of malafide intent by him and leaves Isha with no choice but to take appropriate legal action on these defamatory statements before the appropriate forum.
Isha strongly condemns all the loose and defamatory remarks made by Ramesh Babu and demands total retraction and a public apology for the baseless statements made by him.
