Is Modi, Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan to appear in ads? asks Mallikarjun Kharge

1 min read

Bengaluru: All India Congress Committee (AICC) President M Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday launched a scathing attack on BJP Government at the Centre.

Speaking after inaugurating Rajiv Bhavan named after former prime minister late Rajiv Gandhi at Koratgere Assembly constituency in Tumakuru district, Kharge mocked saying ‘What was Income Tax and Enforcement Directorate were doing, when your MLA (Channagiri BJP MLA Madal Virupakshappa) was stashing crores of rupees in his house. Were they sleeping?

Kharge alleged that, on the other hand Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah were protecting the corrupt in their own party, but terrorising the rival party leaders with IT and ED raids.

He also accused Shah of pulling the strings of IT and ED, though they should be under the Finance Minister. Both the central agencies are being used to threaten Cooperative banks and sugar factories, as Shah holds the concurrent charge as Cooperation Minister, said Kharge.

Kharge also asked ‘Whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan, as he appears in advertisements featuring himself at petrol bunks. Modi again appears in advertisements on TV screens. Did people vote for Modi to ensure welfare of the people or promote himself, when the fuel prices have gone up.’

AICC General Secretary and Karnataka Incharge Randeep Singh Surjewala, KPCC President D K Shivakumar, former Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshwara and several other leaders attended the inauguration of Rajiv Bhavan.
