International Day of Yoga 2022 in Mysuru: District minister thanks all for making it a grand success

Mysuru: Cooperation and Mysuru district incharge minister S T Somashekar on Wednesday thanked all for making eighth International Day of Yoga 2022 led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Palace premises in the city a grand success.

Addressing media at government guest house, Somashekar said “It is indeed a most memorable moment as the event concluded on a successful note. All credit goes to Yoga practitioners, general public, elected representatives, officers, media persons and all those who made it possible directly or indirectly”, added Somashekar.

A sumptuous lunch was also arranged for all.

The highlights of the event were- 15,000 people performed Yogasana in the event that lasted 1.15 minutes, while QR code ticket had been generated for 14,000 people and 15,000 mats had been spread and occupied by all.

Yoga practitioners from Bengaluru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar and other districts had taken part, besides students from Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, New Delhi.

The prime minister led main event was based on the concept of Guardian Yoga Ring and 79 countries and Indian embassies in different countries also took part in the event simultaneously.

Yoga practitioners representing 51 various classes like specially abled, transgenders, teachers and pourakarmikas performed Yogasana along with the prime minister. While 140 buses had been deployed to ferry Yoga practitioners, Yoga mats and mobile pouches were distributed to them, along with arrangement of breakfast.

In all 17 blocks were created in an area of 10 lakh square feet to accommodate 17,000 people a Palace. Drinking water arrangements had been made in each block.
