International Day of Yoga 2022: Central team of officers inspect arrangements in Mysuru

Mysuru: Vikram Singh Director of Union Ministry of AYUSH, New Delhi reviewed the arrangements being made for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s International Day of Yoga 2022 on June 21 at Palace premises in the city, on Thursday.

Chairing a preliminary meeting at Deputy Commissioner’s office in the city, Singh who described it as a happy moment that the prime minister is taking part in Yoga Day here, said ‘required preparations are being made’.

Saying that Mysuru is known for the heritage and culture, Singh said “Mysuru has also enormously contributed to Yoga. Most of the Yoga exponents are practicing in the city. Foreigners are also attracted and practicing Yoga in the city. Considering all these factors, prime minister is taking part in Yoga Day here, which will further enhance the pride of Mysuru”. As part of the event, Yoga Exhibition is also being organised at Dasara Exhibition Grounds on June 20 and 21. It forms of digital exhibition and stall exhibition.

Director of Morarji Desai National Institute Basava Reddy said “On account of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav this year, Yoga Day is being organised at 75 places in the city. The programme will be screened live on TV”.

While only 12,000 people will be allowed to take part in the event at Palace premises, school children, police, specially abled, sexual minorities, pourakarmikas and several others will also be given an opportunity.

The central team of officers  later inspected the palace premises.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Bagadi Gautham, Ayush Commissioner Ramachandra, Police Commissioner Dr Chandragupta, ZP CEO B R Poornima, MCC Commissioner Lakshmikanth Reddy, SP R Chetan and Additional DC B S Manjunath Swamy were present.
