2 min read

Mysuru: “An interdisciplinary approach is crucial for addressing healthcare-related challenges and driving innovation,” stated Dr Animesh Acharjee, Assistant Professor in Integrative Analytics and AI at the University of Birmingham, UK.

He spoke at the two-day Annual International Conference on Recent Trends in Healthcare Innovation (AICRTHI – 2024), organised by Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE) at B C Lingaiah Hall.

Dr Acharjee emphasised the integration of various fields—statistics, mathematics, biology, and artificial intelligence—in advancing healthcare innovation.

He utilises novel machine learning techniques to analyse diverse datasets, aiming to identify new therapeutic and disease mechanisms. These datasets often include publicly available information or experimental data from stakeholders.

His work frequently involves employing machine learning and AI methods across multiple experiments to enhance data integration.

Additionally, Dr Acharjee is focused on developing new data analytics and bioinformatics tools that can be beneficial for clinicians and bibiologists.

P Vishwanath, Secretary of Vidyavardhaka Sangha, also highlighted the evolution of medical practices, noting that modern doctors rely on diagnostic tests and equipment to provide more accurate treatments, moving away from the traditional approach of merely observing patients.

The conference features over 62 research papers from academics and faculty across India and beyond, concentrating on healthcare innovations in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science. The event is set to conclude on Thursday.

Gundappa Gowda, President of Vidyavardhaka Sangha, Shrishaila Ramannavar, Treasurer, Dr Shobha Shankar, Vice Principal and Dean of Academic Affairs; Dr. Ravi Kumar V, Head of the Department of Information Science and Engineering, Dr G B Krishnappa, Dean of Research and Development, Dr Gururaj H L, Associate Professor at MIT Bengaluru and Dr Prema N S Associate Professor, Department of IS&E.
