Injured Bandipur tiger shifted to animal conservation centre of Mysuru zoo

Chamarajanagar: A tiger which was injured in a territorial fight at Bandipur forest on Wednesday was shifted to Chamundi Animal Conservation, Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre of Mysuru Zoo at Koorgalli on Mysuru- Hunsur road on Thursday.

Complying with the SOP of National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) a cage was put to capture the male tiger aged around 7-8 years.

According to initial investigation it was found that the tiger fought with an elephant as the marks of tusk caused injuries were found on the big cat.

The animal with injuries was found near Ganjikatte forest in Bandipur safari zone. To ensure its safety, forest personnel had set up camera traps for round the clock monitoring of its condition.

Bandipur National Tiger Reserve Veterinarians Dr Vasim Mirza and Dr Muzeeb and Bandipur Tiger Reserve Field Director S R Natesh and honorary wildlife warden Kruthika Alanahalli were present during the shifting of the tiger.
