India’s braveheart, first CDS Gen Bipin Rawat cremated with military honours, 17 gun salute

New Delhi: The mortal remains of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat were cremated with full military honours and 17 gun salute on Friday.
Rawats’ daughters Kritika and Tarini performed the rituals related to last rites.
Rawat couple were among those who were killed in chopper crash at Coonoor on their way to Wellington in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.
Earlier the mortal remains of General Bipin Rawath couple was brought amidst a march of army men from the official residence on Kamaraj road to Brar square crematorium.
All the defence forces personnel took part in nine kilometres long march to bid adieu to the first CDS of the country.
Yesterday mortal remains of Rawath couple along with that of 11 others was brought to Palam Air base in Delhi from Sulur in Tamil Nadu.
On Friday morning, the coffins carrying mortal remains was brought to the official residence to enable people to.pay their last respects till 2 pm.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amith Shah and several other dignitaries paid their tributes.
