Indian Cultural Centre, Qatar celebrates Gandhi Jayanthi

Qatar: Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) Qatar celebrated Gandhi Jayanthi on October 2, the birth anniversary of father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi at ICC Ashoka hall.

The programme began with a quiz on the theme “Celebrating Bapu” by four teams as finalists from ensuing preliminaries conducted on precious day by Quiz Master Shafqat Nabi.

On October 1, over 150 participants attended the written test and eight teams with highest score were selected for the semi-finals. Two sets of semi-finals were conducted for selected four teams to participate in the finals.
Chief guest Dr Deepak Mittal Ambassador of India to Qatar and other dignitaries attended the evening were Madam Ambasador Dr Alpana Mittal, first Secretary Sachin Dinkar Sakpal, Defence Attaché Mohan Atla. Apex body Presidents P N BabuRajan from ICC, Vinod Nair from ICBF and Jaffer Sadic from IBPC, many Community leaders and Associated organisations were among the audience.

Dr Deepak Mittal and other dignitaries offered floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and addressed the gathering, by recalling Mahatama and his principles, which are followed not only in India, but all over the world.
Winners of the Quiz were Hussain Abdul Kadhir and Mohammed Aatif and runner up team was Shinj Leela and Swapna Unni. All were presented with a plaque by Deepak Mittal Ambassador of India to Qatar.

ICC Vice-President Subramanya Hebagelu delivered the speech on behalf of ICC, while Kamla Thakur ICC MC proposed vote of Thanks. Sahitya Jyothsna steered the evening as a host.
