Bengaluru: Sandalwood actor Kichcha Sudeep has categorically stated that he is not contesting the elections neither he plans to do so. But he will campaign for Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai out of respect in the upcoming Assembly elections.

Speaking to mediapersons along with Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai at Hotel Ashoka here on Wednesday, Sudeep said that “I have great regards for CM Bommai as he stood by me in difficult times. I am ready to support him at a personal level, as I have immense respect for him. This is the way I could show my gratitude towards him,” Sudeep told mediapersons. He further said that he would have supported Bommai whichever party he was in.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai appreciated Sudeep’s decision to support him and the party. “Keeping his busy schedule in mind, we will chalk out programmes for him to campaign. He has agreed to campaign wherever we request for. This has added strength to the party,” CM Bommai said.

When quizzed further over his support to the BJP, Sudeep said, he has taken a stand in his life. Whoever stood by him in his difficult times, he will support them, irrespective of their party.

He further said that he will not contest elections as he wants to do a lot more in Sandalwood.

Prior to the media briefing, Sudeep tried to quash rumours that he was demanding a ticket for someone. “I have never sought ticket for anyone. I do not have that much of influence. I am just an artiste. As an actor, I could arrange a ticket for my next movie,” he quipped.
