Mysuru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday put his responsibility as a chief minister first to ignore the jinx surrounding Chamarajanagar.

Speaking to media persons on his arrival at Mysuru Airport, to take part in various events, Bommai who was answering to a particular question over the dareness of the chief minister to visit Chamarajanagar, except former chief minister Siddaramaiah, Bommai said ” all the districts are equal for the chief minister. Upon visiting those taluks, I can understand the problems and take up development works.”

The question is about my faith and responsibility to go to Chamarajanagar. It’s not just tomorrow ( as President of India Ram Nath Kovind is taking part in a slew of programmes at Chamarajanagar), I will be returning to Chamarajanagar to conduct a review meeting again, as I am committed towards its development, Bommai added also informing that ” I had told my friends from Chamarajanagar confirming my visit two months ago.”

As a chief minister, it’s an opportunity to learn about the issues in most backward district of the State as per Nanjundappa Committee report. There are instances of chief ministers losing power even after not going to Chamarajanagar. Power is not permanent, said Bommai strongly defending the reason behind his visit.

When reminded that even his father late S R Bommai lost power as a chief minister after visiting Chamarajanagar, Bommai denied saying “It was not related to that.”

On laying foundation for the Adishakti Mahadevamma temple at Huchgani in Nanjangud taluk, that was razed in the recent demolition drive, the chief minister said “I have already mooted a law. Once the rules are framed, I will lay foundation as soon as possible.”
