I-day special: Freedom fighters come alive at Nireekshe

Mysuru: ‘Father of nation’ Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Balagangadhar Tilak, Kittur Rani Channamma and several other freedom fighters came alive in the city on August 15.

This was made possible by the specially- abled students of Nireekshe Special School at Ramakrishna Nagar, who dressed as freedom fighters to recreate the spirit of freedom movement during the 73rd independence Day celebrations at the school.

Rotarian Arun Belavadi unfurled the tri- colour in the presence of Raghavan of Raghulal Medicals, Susheela Keshavamurthy, former chairperson of Zoo Authority of Karnataka ( ZAK), social worker and film producer Lavin Gowda.

Some of the students wearing t- shirts printed in tri-colour, performed cultural programmes adding colour to the celebration.

Member of Lions Club of Mysore Millenium Ln Kiran, proprietor of Janani Foods Arun, school chairman Praveen Krupakar, principal Hemamalini Krupakar, speech therapist Kaveri and Amaraja Hegde were present.
