I am indebted to Gangavati people: Janardhana Reddy

1 min read

Bengaluru: Former minister and founder of Kalyana Rajya Pragathi Paksha (KRPP) Gali Janardhana Reddy on Sunday said he will remain indebted to the people of Gangavathi.

Reddy recently won the Assembly elections from Gangavathi, thus resuming his political career, that had taken a backseat for over a decade for the controversy surrounding his mining business.

Reddy said ‘Many tried to push me down, but the people of Gangavathi have lifted me up. You have given a fitting answer to those who were under the impression that Reddy’s political career is finished.’

Reddy the mining baron and once a prominent BJP leader, was arrested by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on the charges of irregularities in mining in August 2012. However he had to languish behind the bars till he got bail in January 2015.

Reddy had previously served as the Tourism Minister in the cabinet of Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa between 2008 and 2011.
