Hunsur police arrest imposter officer

Mysuru: This racket, a tribal youth had mastered to make quick bucks, reads like a film script. He was calling officers, speaking to them in a female tone and was threatening them for favours.

Girish, aged 22 years from Beerathammanahalli tribal hamlet in Hunsur has been arrested and remanded in judicial custody.

The modus operandi was- Girish was calling officials in the name of Additional Deputy Commissioner Sudha from Bengaluru. He was pressurising officers to consider the candidates of his choice for various posts of hostel warden, cooks and also provide housing benefits.

On June 15, he called the assistant commissioner of Hunsur sub-division to insist the officer to provide housing benefits to Sharadamma. Hunsur town police filed a suo motu case and traced the accused. He was troubling genuine officer Sudha, whose name he was misusing, in a similar manner.

Following a complaint from district planning officer B S Prabha, police have booked a case of impersonation and cheating under IPC sections 419, 353 and 507.
