‘Humanity’ a journalist version of helping hands in Covid time on screen

Mysuru: “Humanity” a short movie that highlights the role of many with humanitarian approach to respond for the cause of needy in this Covid pandemic time was launched on Sunday.

As sudden imposition of lockdown has made it more difficult for the people to get at least two square meals a day, an artiste turns into a food delivery boy to earn money. Instead of using the money for self, he spends it to feed the homeless people in Mysuru.

A  journalist who notices the artiste, follows him to make a story. Eventually the journalist also joins hand with the artiste to help others. This forms the fulcrum of the movie that runs for 13 minutes. 

MDJA President S T Ravikumar, general secretary M Subramanya, senior journalist K Deepak, film director Praveen Kripakar and producer Harshavardan Gowda release the poster of ‘Humanity’ short movie in Mysuru on Sunday.

The highlight is, the movie is directed by journalist Lohit Hanumanthappa who has also written the story and screenplay, with most of the journalists working on and off the screen.

Film director Praveen Krupakar of Taledanda fame ( the movie starring Sanchari Vijay) said “Journalists in Mysuru are known for creating a bond.”

Remembering film journalists Rajan and K J Kumar, Praveen went down memory lane. “The subject is wonderful and lockdown is not the same for all. The short movie provides a 360 degree outlook and the journalists deserve kudos,” said Praveen who teaches film making as Assistant Professor of film division at University of Mysore.

Film enthusiast and social worker Harshavardan Gowda is the producer.

Cinematography (DOP) is by Rahul Raghav with Chandan Balaram as his assistant, music score by Nithish and Pruthvi Raj is the editor.

The star cast includes- Harish Shetty, Kiran B Gowda, Divyesh Gowdagere, Mahadev Lalipalya, Ranjith, Mysore Shivu and Vinay Basappa and electronic media journalists and video journalists.

Mysore District Journalists Association President S T Ravikumar, general secretary M Subramanya and senior journalist K Deepak released the poster.
