Hiss! Peek into snake world at zoo on July 16
1 min readMysuru: World Snake Day is on July 16 and the popular Mysuru Zoo ( Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens) has decided to educate the visitors on the species of reptile.
The boards with useful information on various species of snakes will be put up at the main entrance of the zoo. The boards will be put up from 10 am to 5.30 pm.
According to a press release from the office of zoo executive director, with the useful messages on snakes, it is being thought to create awareness on the reptiles that are mostly treated as a dangerous creature. There are both mildly poisonous and fatally poisonous snakes.
Karnataka is home to over 130 species of snakes and 40 among them are deadly poisonous. In the country, there are 270 species of snakes and 60 are poisonous. When it comes to the snake population across the globe, there are over 3,400 species from 20 families and 500 breeds.
