Hijab not allowed at schools, colleges! Karnataka High Court upholds government’s order on uniform

Bengaluru: In a historical verdict Karnataka High Court on Tuesday quashed all the writ applications related to Hijab.
The three-judge full bench of the High Court chaired by Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi observed that “Hijab is not an integral part of Islam”.
The court also observed that the order of the government on abiding by the wearing of uniform on campuses is within the ambit of law. Hence there is no need for issuing any directions to the Udupi College.
The bench concluded its order on the basis of four questions vetting into whether Hijab is an integral part of Islam, government order on allowing only uniforms on campus among others.
The three-judge bench also included Justice Krishna S Dixit and Justice J M Khazi.
