The petition said that the five “guarantees” were corrupt practices amounting to bribery is against the Section 123 (2) of the Representation of the People Act. It further said that Siddaramaiah had violated the provisions of the Constitution and that of the Representation of the People Act.

Meanwhile, senior advocate Pramila Nesargi, appearing for the petitioner, told the court that all those who sought votes in the name of guarantees were guilty of breach of model code of conduct. But only Siddaramaiah has been made a respondent as an example.

The court has now asked the petitioner to abide by the questions raised over the petition.
