1 min read

Bengaluru: The High Court of Karnataka has dismissed IPS officer D Roopa’s criminal plea to quash a private complaint of criminal defamation filed by IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri.

The single-bench court heard the arguments with regard to the IPS officer’s criminal plea on Monday. However, the court’s detailed observations are yet to be made available.

It may be recalled here that IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri had filed a criminal defamation suit against the IPS officer Roopa accusing her of indulging in making personal allegations with an intention to bring disrepute to her.
IPS officer D Roopa had levelled serious allegations against IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri including mediating with MLA Sa Ra Mahesh, who had raised several complaints against the officer. This had turned ugly after IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri hit out at her stating that the IPS officer seemed to be suffering from mental illness and she was defaming her.

Their ugly fight had become a huge embarrassment to the State government. To save its face, the government then transferred both the officials.
