HH Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar remembered on his sixth death anniversary

Mysuru: Various organisations observed the sixth death anniversary of scion of erstwhile royal family of Mysuru Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar in the city.

A meet was organised by Mysore Rakshana Vedike near Gun House on Mysuru- Nanjangud road. Floral tributes were paid to the portrait of Wadiyar.

Writer C P Krishna Kumar recalled the contributions of the maharajas of Mysuru to the literary and cultural history of the city.

Nalwadi  Krishnaraja Wadiyar is well remembered for his significant contributions, Jayachamaraja Wadiyar for his contributions to the field of carnatic music and his successor Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar for contributing in his own ways, said CPK.

Kannada Sahitya Parishat Mysuru district president Dr Y D Rajanna credited Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar for keeping the tradition of Dasara alive even after the princely rule ceased to exist, besides being a MP of Mysuru constituency.

As a president of Karnataka State Cricket Association ( KSCA) too, Wadiyar had given a new dimension to particular spòrts.

Vedike leaders also warned of protest if the demand for building a memorial for the late Maharaja was not met at the earliest.

Dr S P Yoganna of Suyog Hospital, Mysore Rakshana Vedike president Ka Premkumar, Vice- president Kumar Gowda, Newspapers Distributors Association director Ravi, Gururaj, Pramod, Swaroop, BJP leader Mohan, Chakrapani, Swamy and other leaders were present.
