Heritage House new address for art, cultural events in Mysuru

1 min read

Mysuru: Heritage House is the newly opened cultural and community centre located in the heart of Mysuru, surrounded by the lush enchanting green of Kukkarahalli Lake and University of Mysore campus.

According to Vishwanath R, Curator of Heritage House, it is what the beautiful heritage building was previously called by the people of the city as #3, old professors quarters, which is still its postal address. The building was open to the public from early 2023 as a result of the partnership between the Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF) and the Indian Heritage Cities Network Foundation (IHCNF).

The result of the support given by DEF is the name ‘Heritage House’ as coined by the people.

Since it opened to the public, Heritage House has hosted several events. Book reading events, book releases, writers’ meet-ups, movie clubs, a play, music jam sessions, music concerts, Kabir festival, open mic, art workshops, art exhibitions and the list goes on.

DEF has extensively supported all these activities as the catalyst along with IHCNF.

Heritage House will also be co-hosting the country’s first Indian Children Theatre Festival which is happening in September. Along with that Heritage House also is the place of the first community podcast centre ‘PodMysuru’, which speaks about the rich culture and heritage of Mysuru.
