1 min read

Mandya: Following heavy rain witnessed in the district on Sunday, Cauvery Water Board at Torekadanahalli in Malavalli taluk is partially submerged, flagging concerns over the drinking water supply to Bengaluru.

Due to the downpour at Halagur in Malavalli taluk, the machines used to filter Cauvery water before being supplied to parts of Bengaluru are under water. It is most likely to trigger drinking water related issues, as per the preliminary reports.

At least 1000 MLD of water is purified here daily before being supplied to Bengaluru, it is said.

Taking into cognisance the future consequences, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai is likely to inspect the damages here at around 1.30 PM. The chief minister is expected to arrive in a chopper from HAL Airport, Bengaluru.
