HC order on Ward Committees and Area Sabhas! Alert & enlightened citizens of Mysuru to meet MCC Commissioner

Mysuru: Following the High court order to frame Ward Committees and Area Sabha at all 65 wards in Mysuru City Corporation limits, Alert and enlightened citizens of Mysuru will meet Mysuru City Corporation Commissioner G Lakshmikanth Reddy and submit a memorandum regarding the court order.

Malavika Gubbivani AAP Mysuru district convener also associated with the afore mentioned Association told media persons “Alert and enlightened citizens of Mysuru have been fighting for the formation of Area Sabhas and Ward Committees since 2011, when KMC Act was amended. We finally went to court with this PIL in February 2021 and our Petition has been upheld by HC bench of Chief Justice Abhay Oka and Justice Suraj Govindaraj.”

In a nutshell, the HC has directed the State Government to pass an order as
provided in clause (a) of Section 13B of the said Act of 1976 in relation to Mysuru City
Corporation within a period of six weeks from the date on which a copy of the judgment is uploaded on the court’s website and directed MCC to comply with its obligation under Section 13J (By-Laws for transaction of business, finance and accounting) of the said Act of
1976 within a period of two months from today.

“Next hearing is on October 7. Our effort has borne fruit due to the able guidance and arguments by our advocates in Bengaluru, S Umapathi and his associate Sudha Katwa, whom we wish to thank,” said Malavika Gubbivani.

Now, it is up to the citizens to become the members of hundreds of AS and 65 WC and get fully involved in local administration and get the work done in their area by MCC. They should not get carried away by the assurances of politicians.
