Mandya: H D Kumaraswamy, Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, expressed his outrage, stating, “The state has a rubber stamp (proxy) Home Minister who doesn’t even know what’s happening in his own department.”
Speaking to the media in Mandya ahead of a DISHA meeting, Kumaraswamy criticised the state government’s handling of the case involving Legislative Council Member C T Ravi.
Reacting sharply to recent incidents in the state, Kumaraswamy said, “The state government has suspended a police officer for allowing BJP leaders to meet and discuss with C T Ravi at the police station. But what action has been taken against those who assaulted C T Ravi to the extent of causing a head injury and bleeding?”
He added, “The Home Minister in this state is clueless about what’s happening in his own department. What action has the Home Department taken regarding the recent gold smuggling cases that have come to light in the past two days? Simply invoking Gandhi’s name is not enough; they must follow the path he laid out and work accordingly.”
He also questioned the government’s priorities: “In Belagavi, they are spending crores of public money—what message are they trying to convey? Is this a civilised government? Such an atmosphere never existed in the state before. Where is the state headed in the coming days?” questioned the union minister.
