GSSSIETW hosts webinar on ‘Doing Research: Challenges, Do’s and Don’ts’

Mysuru: The ECE Research Centre of GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women (GSSSIETW), Mysuru organised a webinar on “Doing Research: Challenges, Do’s and Don’ts” recently. 

The objective of the webinar was to give an insight of doing research, which benefits the research scholars and faculty members of engineering colleges. The webinar was attended by more than 150 participants from different engineering colleges across the state.

The webinar was commenced by welcoming the resource person, panel members and participants by Dr D V Rajeshwari Devi, Associate Professor and Research Centre Coordinator, ECE Department, GSSSIETW.

The keynote speaker, Dr Millie Pant, Professor, Department of Applied Sciences & Engineering, IIT Roorkee gave on overview of research by emphasizing on key points- Motivation, Selection of a research problem, Getting started, Writing and Presenting.

She suggested that choosing a research problem can be a new one or new solutions to old problems. She insisted on identifying research groups working in the same area and referring to the papers from standard journals like IEEE, Elsevier and other journals having clarivate analysis impact factor.

She indicated the importance of highlighting the contributions while writing articles and performing self criticism so that the reviewers do not find any loopholes. Finally while presenting, she suggested to indicate the results in simple terms and illustrate the idea with diagrams.

Dr Rajendra R Patil, Head of ECE department, GSSSIETW was the moderator and he concluded the webinar by thanking the resource person and participants. The participants appreciated the information gained from the webinar. The resource person also clarified the doubts raised by a few participants.
