Mysuru: GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women (GSSSIETW), Mysuru, IEEE student branch and IEEE WIE Affinity Group in association with IEEE Bangalore Section and IEEE Circuits and Systems (CAS) Society Bangalore Chapter had organised a webinar on “Advancing Women Through Engagement in Technical Activities During Corona Crisis”.
Dr Celia Shahnaz, Professor, Department of EEE, BUET, Dhaka, Bangladesh Chair, IEEE Bangladesh Section 2020 Member, IEEE New Initiative Committee elaborately spoke on the topic.
Celia Shahnaz, Professor highlighted about the continuous engagement of IEEE to inspire women around the world in the field of technology.
She demonstrated various events conducted by IEEE Bangladesh Section for the advancement of women in technical activities which includes IEEE R10 SYWM congress, UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), 2018 IEEE MGA Outstanding Large Section Award, First Regional Conference of We Power-An World Bank Initiative, Outreach program in BUET Girls School, Significant Educational Activities. SmartHat:Safe and Smooth walking Assistant for elderly people-A contribution of Women students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.
She concluded by highlighting the objectives of IEEE for the advancement of women by recognizing achievements of Women, Advocate women in leadership roles in IEEE governance, Administer the IEEE Student-Teacher and Research Engineer/Scientist (STAR) Program.
The webinar was appreciated by the participants. They appreciated the IEEE WIE Affinity Group activities conducted for the advancement women in technical activities.
The session was commenced by welcoming the panel members, resource persons and participants by Dr Manjula G, Associate Professor, Dept. of TCE.
