Mysuru: GSSSIETW Alumnae Association (R), Mysuru had organised one week
International Webinar series on “Women Empowerment- Scope for higher education and onsite Opportunities for Women” for the pre-final year students of the College during the period April 05 to April 10.
This International Webinar series was organised through online mode, connecting the alumnae of GSSSIETW, Mysuru who have completed their higher studies abroad and who are working around the globe.
Vanaja B Pandit, Hon. Secretary, GSSS(R), Mysuru, participated on all days of the
webinar series was overwhelmed by seeing the global presence of GSSSIETW alumnae and their contribution. She expressed utmost happiness to join online with the alumnae and appreciated them for the advice given to their juniors.
The webinar series was inaugurated by Dr M Shivakumar, Principal, GSSSIETW, Mysuru. He also acted as moderator during the webinar series and during the deliberations he gave an insight into the importance of higher education and global opportunities that exist for
He also gave an overview of the importance of alumnae towards growth of Institution and their contribution for maintaining NBA and NAAC accreditation standards in education.
The alumnae, who participated during the six- day webinar series, shared their personal experiences in getting admission to Masters Programme in reputed Universities abroad. Also they spoke about job opportunities aboard, the challenges faced by them as women at the work place. They
expressed their gratitude to the management of GSSS (R) for creating awareness towards higher studies and making them courageous to face the real world challenges globally as women. They
advised their juniors to update themselves with new technologies and explore new knowledge to face the real challenges of the industry wherever they are employed.
Chandana Prasad working as Onboarding and Operation Specialist, Blueface, Dublin,
Ireland and Unnimaya Chakrapani, MS in Management, National College of Ireland, Dublin are the alumane of ISE passed out in 2015 and 2016 respectively who participated in the Webinar series.
Divyastuee Venkateshappa, East Syracuse, New York, Srilakshmi Shankar, working for Surveymonkey, Netherland, UK, Danya Pradeep Kumar, PhD student at Biomedical Engineering at the University of Arizoa and Shimrith Paul, PhD student at Edith Cowan University (ECU), Australia are the notable alumnae of who completed ECE during the years 2010, 2011, 2015 and 2016 respectively.
Benazir Meera, PhD student at Kinesiology (Sports & Physical Education), University of
Madison, Wisconsin, USA alumna of EEE passed out in 2016 shared her views related to Women empowerment.
Deepa Ramu, Handlesbanken, UK and Naila Mariam Ghori working as Modem Systems
Test Engineer at Qualcomm, California, USA are the alumane of TCE passed out during 2011 and 2014 who participated in the webinar and shared their personal experiences and professional challenges they have faced as women.
Gowri U working as Associate Product Developer at Kidvento, Centrale Nantes, France an alumna of EIE who passed out in 2017 Batch spoke about the challenges in higher studies and work atmosphere.
Alumnae studying abroad gave the insights on migration and VISA procedures, studying
experience, facilities provided to the students by different universities, scholarships available for international students, different opportunities available, placements and cultural differences abroad.
Alumnae working onsite shared their experience on working VISA procedures, work environment and facilities for women.
