Mysuru: Women and Child Welfare Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar has reiterated that there is no deadline to submit applications for the Gruhalakshmi scheme in which women will be given Rs 2,000 every income by the government.

She was speaking to mediapersons after offering prayers at Sri Chamundeshwari temple atop Chamundi Hills in Mysuru on Saturday.

The minister said that to avoid interference by middlemen, the ministry has come out with an exclusive app for the scheme and beneficiaries can apply through the app. “The functionalities of the app will be presented before the Chief Minister in the next cabinet meeting. Later, the app will be released to submit the applications. The money will be deposited from August 17. However, there is no time limit to submit the applications,” the minister informed. She further said that the app will prevent middlemen’s interference in taking the applications. Beneficiaries need not pay any amount to submit the application. An acknowledgement of submission of application is enough to get the benefit, she informed.

She urged the people not to worry about criticisms of the scheme including lack of finance to pay. There is no truth in it, she added.

She further said that she had prayed for the Congress win in the State and so she had come to offer her prayers to the deity. She also prayed for the good rains in the State, she added.
