Gruha Jyoti Scheme: Consumers must apply through Seva Sindhu portal

1 min read

Bengaluru: The Congress government’s Gruha Jyoti scheme will be applicable to those living in rented houses too. Under the Gruha Jyoti Scheme, each house will get up to 200 units of power free.

The State government issued a notification in this regard on Monday and as per the guidelines, consumers willing to avail Gruha Jyoti scheme will have to apply through the Seva Sindhu Portal and each customer ID must be linked with Aadhaar. If one person has more than one meter in his name then, the scheme will be applicable to only one meter. It is estimated that about 98 per cent of households in the State will be eligible for the scheme.

The power bill will be calculated by taking the annual average consumption of a house with a 10 per cent buffer on it. If the annual consumption is within the 200 units, then the consumer need not pay the bill. However, if it exceeds more than 200 units, then they will have to pay the full bill amount.

The scheme is expected to be implemented from August and consumers availing Bhagya Jyoti, Kuteera Jyoti, and Amrutha Jyoti Scheme will be brought under the Gruha Jyoti scheme.
