Mysuru: Gram Panchayat elections in the State will be conducted in two phases on December 22 and December 27.
On Monday Karnataka state Chief Election Commissioner Sanjeev Kumar announced the dates in a press conference.
The Panchayat elections will be held in two phases in each district and that the deputy commissioners of respective districts will issue notifications on December 7 and 11 for the first and second phase of elections respectively.
He further added that the filing of nomination will begin after the issuance of notifications. The last date for filing nomination for the first phase will be December 11, while the last date for filing of nomination for the second phase will be December 16. Nominations will be screened on December 12 and 17 for the first and second phases respectively.
Candidates of first phase elections will be allowed to withdraw nominations till December 14, while second phase candidates will be allowed to withdraw nominations till December 19.
The first phase of elections will be held on December 22, the second phase will be held on December 27.
In the case of recounting, the first phase will be held on December 24 and the second phase on December 29. In the wake of elections, the Code of Conduct will be applicable from November 30 itself.
