Gowri- Ganesha festival: Puja performed to Dasara elephants

Mysuru: It is a tradition to offer “Gaja Puja” to elephants during Ganesha festival every year.
On September 2, puja was offered to first batch of six Dasara elephants camping at the palace- Arjuna, Abhimanyu, Dhananjaya, Vijaya, Varalakshmi and Eshwara.
The elephants were decorated with a band of chrysanthemum flower and vermillion and turmeric were applied on the forehead and trunk to complete the puja rituals under the supervision of priest Prahallad Rao.
DCP ( law and order) M Muthuraj, DCFs J Alexander and Dr Prashanth Kumar K C, Palace Board Deputy Director T S Subramanya, veterinarian Dr Nagaraj and other officers were present for the puja.
