Government suspends KR Pura Tahsildar Ajith Rai after Lokayukta raid

Bengaluru: Following KR Pura Tahsildar Ajith Kumar Rai’s arrest by the Lokayukta police for acquiring wealth disproportionate to his known income, the Revenue Department has now suspended the officer.
Revenue Minister Krishna Byregowda took to Twitter to announce that the government has taken a strict stance against corruption and suspended the corrupt officer from service. The decision has been taken based on findings of the investigation and assured to take further decisive action against Rai.
During its raid on Rai, the Lokayukta unearthed several documents on 100 acres of land, A Toyota Land Cruiser worth Rs 2.5 cr, Rs 40 lakh cash, eight SUVs and jewellery.
It is reported that Rai joined the service on compassionate grounds after his father Anand Rai, a land surveyor in Puttur had died while on duty. Ajith was offered the job with the revenue department in Puttur in 2000.
