‘Giant statue of Lord Mahadeshwara at M M Hills to be unveiled soon’

Chamarajanagar: Housing Minister and Chamarajanagar District incharge Minister V Somanna on Saturday directed the officials to complete the works on the statue of Lord Male Mahadeshwara being built at Vaddarabeedu by March 2. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will inaugurate the statue either on March 7 or 8.

Somanna inspected the works of the statue and the preparations for Shivaratri Jatra Mahotsava, told media that “it is being thought over to inaugurate the mammoth statue of Mahadeshwara at the Hills at the earliest.”

The minister who directed the officials to expedite the works on the road connecting the statue, said “The new hall being built in the first floor of Dasoha Bhavan will also be used for distributing prasada to devotees. At a time over 3000 devotees can take the prasada.”

The minister also visited Mahadeshwara Swamy temple during his visit.

Before coming to the Hills, the minister also inspected the progress of ongoing road works from Kollegal to Hanur taken up under KSHIP Project. He also received grievances of people who are losing their lands for road works near Kamagere.

The Minister directed the officials to issue compensation and complete the road works soon.

Deputy Commissioner D S Ramesh, Additional DC S Kathyayini Devi also the Secretary of Male Mahadeshwara Development Authority, Deputy Secretary Basavaraj, SP Padmini Sahoo, Assistant Commissioner Geetha Huded and other officials were present.
