Mysuru: Journalist and film director Indrajit Lankesh on Friday blamed the lackadaisical attutude of the district incharge minister and rickety police system for the gang rape of a girl student in the city recently.

Addressing media persons in the city, Indrajit said “I urge Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai to ensure justice and complete support to victim’s family.”

Indrajit explained that “peaceful and historical city Mysuru has witnessed a brutal gang rape. But politicians are busy indulge in loose talks and asking questions about the girls freedom. It is highly condemnable.”

Indrajit also pointed at City Police system and politicians who influence investigation in many cases. We have an example of former DC Shika’s case, he added.

Central Government has earmarked Rs 200 crore for compensation in the cases of sexual assault, while in Karnataka 400 plus rape cases are reported in the last two years. Why the government hasn’t issued even a single rupee as compensation? Indrajit questioned.
