‘ Free Kashmir’ protester is an alumnus of University of Mysore

Mysuru: The woman who displayed ‘Free Kashmir’ placard during the recent torchlight rally at Manasagangotri the PG campus of the University of Mysore has been identified as Nalini Balakumar aka Nalini Balakrishna.
A native of Tamil Nadu she has been living at Ramakrishna Nagar in the city from sometime. An alumnus of University of Mysore, she did her masters in journalism and mass communication here in 2016. She later worked as a photo journalist for sometime in Gujarat.
She has also clarified to Jayalakshmipuram police who have filed a suo motu case in this regard that “she had displayed the placard in the interest of people in Kashmir and restoration of normalcy in the valley”.
Moreover, Nalini has also clarified that she joined the rally on that day on her own volition and it has nothing to do with the organisers of the rally.
