Free Kashmir placard! Sedition accused Nalini, Maridevaiah get conditional bail

Mysuru: In a reprieve to ‘Free Kashmir placard’ holder Nalini Balakumar and Maridevaiah, who are facing sedition charges, a court here granted them bail on January 27.

The  second additional district and sessions court judge awarded bail for Nalini Balakumar and Maridevaiah with eight conditions. 
The duo must furnish a bond for Rs 50,000 each and should surrender their passports to Jayalakshmipuram police station, where a case (0002/2020) has been booked against them. The last hearing on their bail pleas was held on January 24 and the court had reserved its orders for January 27.
On January 8 various student organizations organised a protest at Manasagangotri campus to condemn violence in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. During the torch light protest University of Mysore alumnus Nalini Balakumar had displayed “FreeKashmir” placard. 
Jayalakshmipuram Police had booked a suo motu case under IPC 1860 124A, R/w 34 for sedition against the organisers of the protest and placard holder.
