1 min read

Mysuru: While advocates under the banner of Mysuru Bar Association have resolved not to take up the case of Nalini Balakumar, a section of advocates have come forward to take up the case of Nalini Balakumar and other students.

Nalini had held a ‘Free Kashmir Placard’ during the protest staged in Manasagangotri the PG campus, against the violence at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, on January 08.

According to a memorandum signed by a group of advocates Nalini and other students who are facing the case under FIR 02/ 2020 have rights under the Constitution to prove their innocence.

Being senior advocates we are committed to provide any legal assistance and argue the case in favour of the students. The students need not panic and continue their studies.

The memorandum is signed by advocates and progressive thinkers C S Dwarakanath, S Shankarappa, K N Jagadish  Mahadev, B T Venkatesh, J D Kashinath, Srinivas Kumar and R Jagannath.

According to advocate P P Baburaj, “former advocate general Prof B K Ravi Varma Kumar has also evinced interest and the number of advocates willing to take up the case will touch 100 by January 20”.
