1 min read

Mysuru: A section of advocates attached to Mysuru Bar Association have decided to file a petition in favour of protesters who are facing sedition charges.

With this chinks have emerged in the Association that has resolved not to take up the case of Nalini Balakumar who is facing the charge of holding ‘Free Kashmir Placard’ during a protest held at Manasagangotri the PG campus of University of Mysore.

On January 20, advocates along with former chairperson of Karnataka State Women’s Commission Manjula Manasa raised the issue at the general body meeting of the association to re-consider the resolution taken earlier not to file petition in favour of Nalini Balakumar who displayed free Kashmir placard and organiser Maridevaiah  of University of Mysore Researchers Association.
Manjula Manasa told media, “we advocates  raised the issue in the meeting and contended that the resolution which was taken against the acused is one sided. There is no clarity even in the association about violation of resolution. So we 150 advocates will file a petition for bail”, she claimed.
Earlier bar association was firm in its resolution.
