Fourth day of navaratri begins with cyclothon

Mysuru: The fourth day of navaratri on October 2 has started with a cyclothon.

District minister V Somanna flagged off the ‘Cyclothon’ competition at the outer-ring road junction on Bannur road in the city.

As many as 260 cyclists are participating in the competition, including 180 men and 80 women. The cyclists have to pedal 100 km, with men starting from ring road junction will reach Mugur on T Narsipur road and pedal back in the reverse direction to reach Devikere atop Chamundi Hill through Lalitadripura. The women start from Mugur and culminate at Devikere covering 50 km.

The first prize winner will pocket Rs 30,000, second prize- Rs 25,000, third prize- Rs 20,000, fourth prize- Rs 10,000 and fifth prize- Rs 5,000.

Commissioner for department of youth empowerment and sports K Srinivas, Joint Director M S Ramesh, Alanahalli Gram Panchayat president Sharadamma and Assistant Director of Sports Suresh were present.
