Four-day state-level T20 cricket tournament in memory of M N Bhagat Simha begins

Mysuru: A four-day state-level T20 cricket tournament organised in the memory of Jai Hind Cricket Club founder M N Bhagat Simha began at the SDNR Wodeyar Stadium in the city on Thursday. The event has been officially sanctioned by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA).
KSCA Mysore Zone President S Balachander inaugurated the tournament, by batting a ball.
Balachander praised Jai Hind Cricket Club, one of the oldest cricket clubs in Karnataka, which was first registered in Mysuru with registration number 13. He stressed the remarkable leadership of M N Bhagat Simha, who served as the club’s secretary for nearly five decades (despite limited financial support from 1964-2018).
Bhagat Simha’s ability to run the club through personal efforts and contributions from well-wishers and players.
Balachander highlighted the club’s significant contribution to Karnataka cricket, producing several notable cricketers including Ballal and Jaishankar.
He conveyed his best wishes to Pradeep Simha and the rest of the Jai Hind Cricket Club members for their continued efforts.
Addressing the gathering, C Venkatesh, Director, Department of Physical Education, University of Mysore, praised the fortitude of the Simha family.
He noted how Pradeep Simha and Pratap Simha carried on the legacy of their father Bhagat Simha when the family faced challenges in maintaining the club.
Navodaya Cricket Club (NCC) registered a seven-run win over Vijaya Cricket Club in the inaugural match.
Batting first, Navodaya Cricket Club scored 150 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. For Navodaya CC, Prajwal Pawal scored 49 runs with five fours and two sixes, while Rahul Prasanna and Naveen scored 29 and 23 runs respectively.
For Vijay CC, Vidyadhar Patil took three wickets, while Aditya Goyal and Abul took two wickets each. In reply, Vijay CC scored 143 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Dhruv scored 38 runs and was the top scorer, while Ishan and Basava took three and two wickets each for Navodaya CC.
Jo Jo CC registered a 12-run win over Jai Hind Cricket Club at the SJCE ground. Jo Jo Cricket Club were bowled out for 192 in 19.3 overs. Gautam Sagar and Madhav Bajaj played well to score 64 and 45 runs respectively.
Clement bowled well for Jai Hind and took 4 wickets.
In reply, Jai Hind scored 180 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Kritik Krishna batted well scoring 77 runs in just 42 balls while L R Kumar bowled well and took 3 wickets.
