FOSSPC- 2020! GSSSIETW among three colleges from Mysuru to bag prizes

Mysuru: The Department of Computer Science & Engineering, GSSIETW had organised a national level virtual FOSS Project Competition- FOSSPC-2020 on July 24.

The project mainly aimed at bringing awareness on the “Free and open-source software (FOSS)” among the student community and also to encourage and recognise the achievements of the students. This project competition aimed at exhibiting the projects developed by final year students using FOSS Tools, according to a press release.

They were total 24 batches who actively participated from different engineering colleges and there were students from CSE, MCA, ECE and ITE departments.

The FOSSPC 2020 started with three different online panels using Google meet platform. The panels were divided based on project domain namely signal processing, OLED, Deep Learning , IOT, Image Processing, Block Chain and many more.

The session started in all three panels in parallel with different panel of judges. All the participants presented project ideas and were stored in GitHub repository for further reference.

Students of Bangalore Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering, JSS STU, Mysuru, Maharaja Institute of Technology, Thandavapura and GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women, Mysuru secured prizes during the competition.

The FOSSPC -2020 started with welcome Speech by Dr S Meenakshi Sundaram, Professor and Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering along with FOSSPC -2020 Convener Dr Gururaj K.S, Associate Professor, Dept.of CSE and Faculty Coordinators of FOSSPC-2020.

All the participants appreciated the FOSSPC -2020 competition and shared excellent feedback.
