Former VC Prof Rangappa mourns Bhardwaj’s demise

Mysuru: Karnataka State Open University former vice-chancellor Prof K S Rangappa paid rich tributes to Hans Raj Bhardwaj, former Karnataka Governor, who passed away in Delhi. 

Prof Rangappa recalled how the former governor understood and acknowledged his academic merit and accomplishments to approve his name for the vice-chancellor’s post amid stiff opposition.
 
“There were many in the university, who troubled me and even opposed my name for the vice-chancellor’s post. But he checked the reality, realised my merit and supported me. One cannot undermine his support in elevating the Open University to what it is today,” Prof Rangappa told Mysoorunews.com.
 
“A very few people touch your life deeply and in my life Bhardwaj sir is one,” former VC said.
 
Rangappa who was in Delhi on Sunday returned to Mysuru. It was only after coming to Mysuru he learnt about Bhardwaj’s death.
 
After serving as VC of KSOU, Rangappa became the VC of University of Mysore.
