Former minister Ramanath Rai quits electoral politics

Mangaluru: Former Minister and senior Congress leader B Ramanath Rai on Tuesday announced his retirement from electoral politics.
Addressing a press conference at Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee office on Tuesday, Ramanath Rai, who recently lost the Assembly election from Bantwal, announced his decision to step down from electoral politics, but chose to remain in the political arena.
He expressed his contentment for the support received from voters in the recent election that is also his last.
Acknowledging the supremacy of the party and pledging to adhere to any decision of the high command, Ramanath Rai said the Congress party has however decimated BJP in the Assembly elections and will continue its winning streak in the next Lok Sabha elections too. BJP won’t come to power again in the State.
