Mysuru: The government’s move to install Sir M Visvesvaraya’s statue along with the erstwhile king Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar at the Krishnarajasagar reservoir is gaining opposition day by day.

On Saturday, former mayor Purushottam along with other like-minded people held a joint press conference to condemn the government’s move. He threatened to shed blood, if the government goes ahead with its plan. He went on to say that if the government does not budge, then the statue will be demolished.
“We welcome the government’s move to show respect to the visionary king by erecting his statue. But what was Sir MV’s contribution to the reservoir. He was just an engineer, that too for a short term. Facts have been twisted and generations have been fed with the wrong information. This is very unfortunate,” he observed.
Purushottam accused the Mysuru Royal family of allegedly supporting the government’s decision.
He alleged that Maharani Pramoda Devi Wadiyar is eyeing an MLC seat and that could be the reason for their support.
“At least erstwhile royal family members must have a sense of history,” he decried.
Ursu Community leader Nandish Raje Urs claimed that the BJP government is trying to favour one community through their decision. Let the government install Vani Vilasa Sannidhana’s statue along with Nalwadi’s statue, he demanded.
Sosale Siddaraju  from Bahujan party, farmer’s leader Hosakote Basavaraju, Ashwathraje Urs, Vokkaliga Vikasa Vedike head Yamuna and Nayaka community leader Dhyvappanayaka were present. present.
