Former Kerala CM Oommen Chandy passes away

Bengaluru: Former Chief Minister of Kerala Oomen Chandy passed away in Bengaluru on Tuesday.
Chandy, aged 79, was a member of the Congress Working Committee and served as the AICC General Secretary incharge of Andhra Pradesh.
He had been an MLA since 1970, representing the Puthupally constituency in Kerala, and had also held the position of the opposition leader in Kerala.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on Oommen Chandy’s and tweeted, “We have lost a humble and dedicated leader in the passing away of Shri Oommen Chandy Ji. He devoted his life to public service and worked tirelessly for the progress of Kerala. I have fond memories of our interactions, especially during our tenures as Chief Ministers of our respective states, and later when I moved to Delhi. My thoughts are with his family and supporters during this sorrowful hour. May his soul rest in peace.”
