Former Karnataka cricketer Vijaya Krishna passes away

Mysuru: Former cricketer B Vijaay Krishna passed away in Bengaluru on Thursday. He was 71.

Vijaya Krishna passed away due to multi organ failure at a private hospital.

Nick named Viji, he was a popular cricketer in domestic level and was in Karnataka team that lifted Ranji Cup in 1977-78 and 1982-83.

A left hand orthodox bowler, he played 80 first grade cricket matches and scalped 194 wickets.

He debuted in Ranji cricket in
1968-69 as an all rounder and scored 2297 runs, two centuries and 16 half centuries. 

He was active till 1983 as he later announced retirement from cricket.

Hundreds of cricket fans and friends of Viji mourned his death.
