New Delhi: Former IPS officer from Karnataka Bhaskar Rao joined Aam Aadmi Party ( AAP) in New Delhi on Monday.

Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal welcomed Rao into the party fold.

Speaking to media persons, Rao said he plunged into politics only to broaden the spectrum of services to help the poor and common man.

To a query on why particularly AAP when there are national parties, Rao said ” the party is already in power in Delhi and now in Punjab. Most importantly there is no scope for corruption and equality is the common factor”, said Rao on what attracted him towards the party.

On his plans for Karnataka, as the chances of projecting him as Chief Minister face cannot be ignored, Rao said ” We will work under the instructions of Kejriwal”.

Following Rao’s entry into AAP, speculations are rife that ” former Lokayukta N Santosh Hegde and former JDS MLA of Kadur Y S V Datta may also follow the suit”.
