New Delhi: Former union minister Buta Singh passed away on Saturday. He was 86.
Singh who had suffered a stroke, died of the complications later.
Singh who rose to prominence
as the home minister in the cabinet of Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi from 1986 to 89 had also served as the minister for agriculture and rural development. He was the Governor of Bihar from 2004 to 2006 and Chairman of National Commission for Schedule Castes from 2007 to 10.
He had also served in the ministries of late prime ministers Indira Gandhi and P V Narasimha Rao.
