Former Congress MLA Vasu keen to contest Lok Sabha polls from Mysuru- Kodagu seat

Mysuru: Former Congress MLA Vasu, a prominent leader of the party on Wednesday announced that he is keen on contesting the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, due in April/ May- 2024 from Mysuru- Kodagu constituency.
Addressing a press conference at Mysore District Journalist Association, Vasu also a former mayor stressed on his unflinching loyalty to Congress party and clarified that he has not considered running as an independent candidate, as has a strong desire to contest upcoming Lok Sabha elections on party ticket from Mysuru-Kodagu constituency.
Vasu was hopeful that the party will acknowledge his aspirations and grant him the ticket, but assured that he will maintain composure even if he was denied ticket.
Vasu said that ‘there has been an intense lobby for ticket, with numerous leaders vying with each for the opportunity.’
Vasu who represented Chamaraja constituency as a MLA from 2013 to 2018, however lost the subsequent election.
In the recent election, his demand for ticket to contest again was ignored and the party fielded K Harish Gowda who also succeeded in wresting the seat from BJP.
Former Mayor P Vishwanath was present during the press conference.
