Mysuru: Former chief minister S M Krishna on Thursday gave a clarion call to the State Government to look at Singapore as a model to develop tourism in the State.
Addressing the gathering after the inauguration of Nada Habba Mysuru Dasara-2021 at Chamundi Hill, Krishna said ” It is possible to develop tourism with the natural attractions available in abundance in the State.”
Krishna recalled his rapport with long serving Prime Minister of Singapore late Lee Kuan Yew. Such was the commitment of Lee to keep Singapore beautiful that, he was often saying “If you don’t keep Singapore clean, I will return from my tomb and whip.”
In his advise to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who was also on the dais, Krishna emphasised on tourism package covering various tourist spots in the State like- Belur, Halebid, Badami, Aihole, Pattadakallu, Hampi and Vijayapura. It will help in generating adequate resources.
With another 12 months left for next Dasara, the measures on implementing tourism package after discussing with the officials should be initiated at the earliest.
